CHRISTOPHER DALY

BIOGRAPHY

Christopher Daly began playing the guitar at the age of seventeen,
after hearing a recital by the great Spanish virtuoso, Andres Segovia.

Five years later, he began to teach the instrument, having been invited
to join the staff of the Music School at Winchester College.

Since this first appointment in 1970, Christopher has continued teaching
the guitar full-time; working in various educational institutions and
also privately. His students include both beginners and players at an
advanced level.

Throughout the period he has become an experienced performer, playing
both as a soloist and accompanist, and also in chamber music ensembles.

In this context his artistic aim is to perform music which represents
the finest traditions of the guitar, and his recitals always include some
introductory explanation giving interesting background to the works.

More recently Christopher has enjoyed working as an adjudicator of guitar
performances, and in 1991 was appointed an Adjudicator-Member of the
British Federation of Music Festivals.

The following is a selection of the composers
represented in Mr Daly’s programmes:

Dowland * Castelnuovo-Tedesco * Bach

Weiss * Rodrigo * Vivaldi * Berkeley

Boccherini * Llobet * Fauré * Ponce
